It was a great day for football and the whole day was a
blast. The games were great, the visitors were fantastic and
the food was out of this world. We added some new items to our
menu....Pulled Pork and Artichoke French....I can't wait for lunch
this coming Sunday. Next up: Pittsford
Gold!!!!
8/14/09 We are two
weeks into the practice season and everything seems to be moving
along just fine. We will be attending the August 23rd,
Hilton/Greece Scrimmage to test what we have done so far. This
is a great way to take a look at what we think works. Every
year, we come back to practice the following week and make the
adjustments needed. This year we also added a scrimmage with
Penfield. We will be hosting this scrimmage August 30 at our
home field. Thank you to all the parents for your dedication to
getting your participants to practice on time. Always
remember.....if there is even a question regarding the weather
during practice hours....return to the field immediately just in
case we cancel practice
early.
6/25/09 We are
offering a new way to cut costs for families of our
participants. By seeking out sponsors and/or donations you can
receive discounts and even receive your registration for free.
Please call for information if you have not received the Family
Sponorship email
notification.
There
will be improvements made to our home field this year. We have
a company starting work on the field this month. The town of Gates
will be funding most of the
cost.
Our season starts in less
than 6 weeks. It will be here before you know it.
4/2/09 Another
month closer to the start of our season. Rickey Ellis was voted
in as president of our teams. Ed Donlon has moved to the VP
spot as well as all the other jobs he does for us. Lisa Bianchi
was voted in as secretary of the
board.
The Gates Jr Spartans' booster club is planning a Vegas style
Casino Night for September. They are looking for a
location. As soon as there is a location found, we will start
promoting the event and fundraiser.
3/26/09 We have held two
registration to date. B Squad football roster is full, but we are
keeping a waiting list just in case participants drop out. A and
C Football Squads are filling up fast, but there are spots
open at this time. There are also spots open for Flag
Football. Cheerleading is filling fast as well, but there are
spots left on all squads.
You can register anytime by calling 739-2488 or emailing ellco@rochester.rr.com
We are in the American Conference this
year. We will be playing the following teams: Brighton jr.
Barons Irondequoit Vikings Webster Titans Webster
Warriors Churchville Chargers Brockport
Eagles Rush-Henrietta Jr. Royal
Comets
The 2009 season will be extended to a 9 week season, with the
games starting September 6 and running 9 consecutive
Sundays. There will be one cross-over game in our schedule.
This is due to both conferences having an odd number(9) teams in
each.
Please keep in mind that no equipment will be distributed to
any participant that has not handed in all paperwork and/or all
registration payments are made in full. This will keep our
board members from having to run around during the season, trying to
get everything in order. We are going to be very strict with
this rule and hope that everyone
understands.
